I knew it was coming.  I just didn’t know it would hit so quickly.  At first, I thought that this article was a simulation. Very sad to see what is being lost, having just been in Venice only a few days ago analyzing the possibility of this kind of event over the next one to two decades.

The ‘acqua alta’ created havoc in Venice, as schools and hospitals were closed and citizens were advised against leaving their homes. The flooding, caused by a convergence of high tides and a strong sirocco wind, reached around 156cm on Monday
