Ebola Survivors Protest for Medical Facilities, Livelihood and Stigma

Monday 4th April, 2016: EVD survivors still have substantial unmet needs in Sierra Leone. Yesterday’s demonstration with placards at the State House and around the country further reinforce many of the concerns EVD survivors face.

Key issues that were highlighted was the need for psychosocial support Free or yet affordable medical facilities, rehabilitation of livelihoods and stigmatization. These issues surface in most discussions with survivors and those that have been indirectly impacted through the loss of a loved one to Ebola.

Ebola survivors believe Funds sent by international donors is taking forever to reach Ebola survivors and therefore cannot cope and still live in bad/hash conditions.

At the end of the  meeting, head of the Sierra Leone Association of Ebola survivors (SLAES) Mr Yusuf Kabba addressed Ebola survivors.
