True to his word, in February this year, the Chinese Ambassador, Zhao Yanbo, said the nine medical personnel will arrive this month to help run the Jui hospital. He said they arrived last weekend to join their colleagues in helping Sierra Leone get better medical facilities.
Speaking yesterday to Dr Kanu who is in charge of the hospital at his Jui office, he said the personnel that have arrived are mixed. He said they have doctors, Lab Technicians, nurses, etc.
“We want to run the hospital on a 24 hour basis and we also want to treat as many sicknesses as possible, so these personnel coming will help us achieve our dream in making the Jui hospital the best in the country.”
Dr Kanu said because they intend to run the hospital on a 24 hour basis, these team that have arrived are living in the quarters of the hospital so that they will have the advantage to start work early as well as they can call upon them at anytime.
Dr Kanu maintained that the cost of treatment is very cheap compared to other hospitals, but stressed the point that they give quality services and they will soon start doing major operations and will also do chemotherapy for cancer patients.
The head of the hospital reiterated that they are still registering for the cataract operation that a Chinese team will arrive in town to do. He said the registering is just a mere Le30,000, the same fee every patient pays to register at the hospital for other ailments.
