Sierra Rutile Limited employees provide teaching aid to Imperi School

Employees of Sierra Rutile Limited (SRL)-from management to senior staff, have offered to provide teaching assistance to Imperi Secondary School; the largest secondary school in SRL’s operational area.

 

For the past years, the output of pupils at Imperi School, especially in public exams, has not been encouraging. This, according to findings, is as a result of ill-equipped staff and lack of relevant teaching materials.

Lebanon to construct educational complex in Bo City

Vice President Victor Bockarie Foh has warmly welcomed the decision of the President of the Lebanese Parliament, Mr. Nabih Berri to build an educational complex in Bo City, said the Ambassador of Lebanon to Sierra Leone, Nidal Yehya.

The Lebanon envoy further added that the President of the Lebanese Parliament, Mr. Nabih Berri was conceived in Bo 77 years ago.
“Vice President Foh instructed the New Honorary Consul of Sierra Leone in Lebanon, Mr. Donald El Abed to implement these matters and to facilitate the way for new big investors to come to Sierra Leone and to invite the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lebanon to come to Sierra Leone.”

Freetown Rotary Club lights FSSG Boarder

During the dry season, the country normally faces electricity crisis due to inadequate water in the Bum Buna hydro dam, according to many experts, and electricity is one of the key facilities for one to progress in his or her studies.

The Freetown Rotary Club has come to the rescue of the Freetown Secondary School for Girls (FSSG) border by installing solar power on the entire border area so that pupils and staff might enjoy during and after the dry season.

New Global Education In Emergencies Fund To Be Launched At World Humanitarian Summit

The world's leading countries, companies and philanthropists will join forces to create a 'major breakthrough' to provide education for millions of children displaced by conflicts and natural disasters.The new 'Education Cannot Wait' fund will be launched next week at the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul.


A historic, global-first hailed a 'game changer,' the fund targets the needs of 75 million children and youth impacted by crisis, disaster and conflict.

Le622 bn Funding Gap in Education -EFA Report

Education For All Sierra Leone Coalition has stated in a validated report Tuesday 17 that there is about six hundred and twenty-two billion Leones funding gap which is about 15 percent.
“About 51 percent of that gap is related to uncovered development expenses. Interventions such as handicapped accessible schools and WASH facilities fall under development spending,” the report states.

CRS launches “All Pikin for learn” Phase 3

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) on Tuesday launched Phase Three of the programme food for education “All Pikin for learn” at the Miatta conference hall, Brookfields in Freetown.
Phase 3 of this programme is a continuation of the “All Pikin for Learn” Phase 2 and this third phase which is for three years seeks to increase literacy of school aged girls and boys and to improve health and dietary practices in five vulnerable chiefdoms in Koinadugu district.

Musa Foundation donates computers to Modern High School

Pupils and staff of the Modern High along Jomo Kenyatta Road were yesterday in a jubilant and fulfilled mood after learning of a gesture from a Sierra Leonean John Musa who made a donation of computers and other electronic materials to the school.

 

The donation, John Musa said, is part of several programmes to take Information Communication Technology (ICT), to schools and universities and this is a means of giving back to the people and communities that helped him get to where he is today.

The Sierra Leonean who finished his studies and later worked in an engineering company in the United States of America, said he intends to give computers to students in the school and for other pupils in other schools. He has set up the Musa Foundation with the objective so that with these tools they [pupils] will create a structure for them to follow to become the next future leaders of the world.

USDA Representative Visits SL, Commissions Primary School in Nieni Chiefdom and joins MEST Minister to Launch the All Pikin for Lan Phase 3 Program

Catholic Relief Services  (CRS) and the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MEST) hosts Ms. Lindsay Carter – a Representative of the United States Department  of Agriculture (USDA).
Since 2008, Catholic Relief Services  with funds from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and in collaboration with  the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MEST) has been implementing integrated education programs  nicknamed, ‘All Pikin for Lan’ in five  of the most vulnerable and remote  chiefdoms in  Koinadugu, northern Sierra Leone.

As IAMTECH innovations excel…Principal says Students Enrolment increases
