It was with gratitude that the Milton Margai School for the Blind last Friday received assorted food items from the Creole Community.
The donation ceremony took place at the school’s campus on Wilkinson Road in Freetown as the students as well as the teachers of the school welcomed members of the community with religious as well as social songs.
Addressing the school on the purpose of the donation, interim President of the group, Samuel Valcarcel said that though the organisation was set up five months ago for the creoles in the country, it purpose was not just to serve themselves as an ethnic group but more so to serve the country as a whole, noting that it was why they decided to go to the school.
“We thought we should do something during the independence celebration; we think we should come to people who will appreciate us more. That is why we are here,” he intimated.
Mr Valcarcel said they will be visiting the school from time to time.
